EngRec 2021
Available On-Demand until 30th November
Join IMechE and Professional Engineering at THE virtual fair for early engineering careers and find your perfect job!
Now in its second year, EngRec is a free to attend one-day virtual exhibition and conference for early careers engineers. In 2020, the event attracted more than 3,000 registrations with attendees being able to speak directly to companies looking to recruit, apply for jobs on the day and put their CVs in front of engineering recruitment leaders. The event also brought with it the opportunity to find out more about the exciting engineering career opportunities/industries via a number of on-the-day seminars and talks.

Research shows that, even without a global pandemic, location, time and travel costs are significant barriers stopping early careers engineers attending careers fairs. Last year, we decided to do something about it. And so EngRec was born - In 2020, the event attracted more than 3,000 registrations and more than 1,700 individuals on the day . Exhibitors were able to engage young engineers, students and graduates and had the opportunity to talk to and recruit the best that engineering has to offer.
The 2021 exhibitors include:
Exhibitor feedback - “ The traffic has been pretty much non-stop! Really good day and we have had lots of interested individuals ” RAF, Exhibitor 2020

Host
Dr. Jonathan Nixon, Associate Head of Research - School of Mechanical, Aerospace and Automotive Engineering, Coventry University
Description
To rapidly transition economies to net zero greenhouse gas emissions, the world of tomorrow needs to be engineered. Innovations in energy generation and applications for heat, power and transportation are required to make modern clean energy services and products more readily available. As we innovate and economies diversify, society and industries must be responsible to ensure that nobody is left behind.
This talk showcases some of the research being undertaken at the Research Institutes for Clean Growth and Future Mobility (CGFM) and Mathematical, Physical and Computational Sciences (MPCS) at Coventry University and the role engineers are playing in securing a sustainable future for all.
This talk will also signpost educational opportunities to improve employability in this evolving jobs market such as part-time masters and doctoral programmes, degree apprenticeships and more.
Dr. Jonathan Nixon and his academic team will be available after the talk to answer your further questions on the Coventry University exhibition stand.
The Royal Air Force is made up of impressive personnel from diverse backgrounds, working side-by-side as part of a team to make a difference. Meet Elizabeth, a Safety Engineering Officer and Zrar, an Engineering, Communications and Electronics Officer, who share their own personal insight into what life is really like in the RAF.
The session includes a live Q&A with Sgt Michael Mitchelmore who will answer your questions about a career in the RAF.
As Black HIstory Month comes to a close, Amit Katwala, Editor of Professional Engineering, will interview Mara-Tafadzwa Makoni, Comms & PR External Relations Lead at AFBE-UK, about how diversity and inclusion is addressed within the engineering industry.
During this talk Chris Atkins; IMechE Business Development Executive for the Midlands will walk you through a brief introduction of The Institution of Mechanical Engineers and explore in detail how we can best support you as an Engineer in industry.
Chris will discuss the benefits of being an IMechE member alongside the benefits of becoming recognised as a Professionally Registered Engineer as well as taking a look at the range of development tools that are available through the IMechE and what support is available to help you get ahead in your career.
Hear from some early careers engineers who have found jobs in the recent climate, as they share their experiences and how they have adjusted.
Speakers:
Gavin Kerby, Project Manager, Defence , Science and Technology Laboratories ( DSTL)
Harry Jackson, Electrical Engineering Degree Apprentice, Leonardo UK
Bronia Andryszewski, Maintenance /Reliability engineer, DOW chemicals
Theodor Spencer, Design Engineer, Toyota GAZOO Racing World Rally Team
Panel chaired by Lydia Amarquaye CEng, IMechE
Chris Atkins gives a brief overview of the IMechE and how it can support you.
